Getting around
Minibuses lined-up at Stabroek Market. The market is the starting point
for local minibus routes as well as for out-of-town trips.

Around Georgetown, private minibuses and taxis are the way to go. There is no public transportation within Georgetown. A trip on a mini bus costs $60 - 80. $60 is the official government set rate, however if you give a 100, you will only get back $20! There are no bus schedules or route maps. But the buses show up pretty frequently.
There are plenty of taxis and they cost $300 - 500 for a trip anywhere in the city. For a ride to Cheddi Jagan International airport $5000; Ogle airport in the city $1000.
Georgetown to Lethem = $10,000 by bus or US$250 by air
Georgetown to Shell Beach (organized trip) = approx US$300
Georgetown to Parika by minibus = $500
Parika to Supenaam (by speed boat) = $1,200
Supenaam to Charity by Taxi = $4,000
